Eleven years of steel, from Mombasa's port yard to plots across Kenya.
We started as a two-truck depot moving used containers off the Mombasa docks. Today we run three depots, a fabrication workshop, and a delivery fleet that reaches every county — but the inspection standard hasn't changed since unit one.
Started at the port, built for the country.
Frontier Containers was founded in 2014 by a small team working the Mombasa container yards, buying decommissioned shipping units from freight lines and reselling them for storage. As Kenya's construction sector grew, so did the requests: could a container become an office? A clinic? A home? We hired welders, an electrician, and eventually a structural engineer, and cargotecture became half the business.
We now operate depots in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu, supply new one-trip units alongside used and refurbished stock, and run a dedicated conversions workshop that has delivered homes, schools, clinics and retail units to clients from Kwale to Kitale.
Why we do this.
Mission
Make durable steel structure — for storage, work, or living — accessible and honestly priced for every scale of Kenyan project.
Vision
To be the container supplier and conversion partner East African builders default to, the way they already default to a trusted hardware supplier or fundi.
Four values that shape every quote.
Inspect before we list
No unit reaches the catalog without a structural check. What you inspect at the depot is what arrives on site.
Itemised, not bundled
Every quote breaks down shell, delivery, and fit-out separately, so you can adjust scope without renegotiating from zero.
Engineer for the climate
Coastal humidity, highland cold, and arid heat each demand a different insulation and ventilation approach — we don't use one spec everywhere.
Stay reachable after handover
Every delivery includes a direct WhatsApp line to the team that built or delivered your unit — not a generic support inbox.
From enquiry to handover.
Tell us the brief
WhatsApp, phone or the contact form — we ask about use case, size, budget and timeline.
Itemised proposal
Unit cost, delivery, and any fit-out scope broken out line by line, usually within one working day.
Build or prepare
Conversions move to our workshop; straight sales are prepped, inspected and staged for dispatch.
Site handover
Flatbed or hydraulic-tilt delivery nationwide, with a walkthrough and documentation on arrival.
Want to see the depot before you order?
Walk-ins are welcome at all three depots during business hours — bring your specs and we'll walk the yard with you.
